In its best performance so far in the BH Cup (also known as Cruzeiro International Cup), one of the two main competitions in the category's annual calendar, Flamengo's U-15 team delivered a historic 6-1 thrashing (Hugo, Samuel, Mayquinho, Lázaro, Rykelmo, and Barbosa own goal) against São Paulo. Guaranteed a spot in the tournament's semifinals, the "Mais Querido" will face Atlético MG in the fight for a spot in the final, a team the Rubro-Negro already faced in the first round and defeated 4-1. Due to the heavy rains yesterday, the match is still scheduled for this Saturday at 16:30 pm at Toca da Raposa 1.

Flamengo attacked from the start and quickly opened the scoring. Just three minutes into the match, after a corner kick from the right, the São Paulo defense poorly cleared the ball. Samuel recovered the ball on the left side of the field, dribbled past the defender, and crossed for Hugo, perfectly positioned inside the box, to slot home. In the 12th minute, Dhouglas delivered a good through ball to Reinier, but the shot went wide of the goal. In the 16th minute, Lázaro spotted Jhonata's run and delivered a superb through ball to the full-back. The left-footed shot went just wide of the goal.

The pressure was intense, and the Boys of the Nest extended their lead in the 19th minute. Mayquinho passed the ball through the middle to Daniel, who exchanged passes with Lázaro and drove it through the middle. He then passed it back through to Lázaro, who crossed into the middle of the box. Defender Barbosa, sliding in, tried to clear it and scored an own goal. São Paulo pulled one back in the 24th minute, with a goal by Talles. But that didn't dampen the red-and-blacks' momentum, who soon added another. In the 29th minute, Lázaro did a good job as a pivot and passed it to Caio, who made the pass. The cross found Samuel, who rose above the defense and headed it powerfully. The goalkeeper's rebound led to a powerful shot himself. The next minute, the rout was complete. Reinier drove down the right and passed it to Lázaro. He observed Mayquinho's fast run and fed the number 11, who arrived with a first-time cross to extend the lead. 

Already thinking about the afternoon's semifinal match against Atlético MG, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) came out a little more restrained for the second half. Still, they scored more goals. In the second minute, Mayquinho won the ball back in defense and passed it to Lázaro. He made a great individual play, dribbling past the defender, and then crossed the ball from outside the box to score a stunning goal. In the 26th minute, Mayquinho took a corner, and after a scramble in the air, the ball fell to Rykelmo, who shot for the sixth, sealing the victory for the Garotos do Ninho.

"Thank God we played an excellent team game, which led to a great victory against a tough opponent. Now we're going to rest, because soon we face another tough opponent: Atlético MG. Individually, I'm feeling good, adapting more and more to my new position on the field with each game, and I'm very happy to be able to help the team with goals," said Samuel, Flamengo's top scorer in the competition with four goals so far.
