Mengão's U-15s beat Botafogo 2-0 in the third round of the Carioca
U-17 draws 2-2 in normal time and is defeated on penalties
By Romulo Paranhos - inDouble round day in Gávea! In the first game this Saturday (13), Mengão's U-15 team beat Botafogo 2-0 in the third round of the Carioca Championship in that category. The red-and-black goals were scored by Christian and Bidu, both in the second half. With the result, the Mais Querido maintained its 100% record, totaling 9 points in the competition.
The game
Flamengo started the match looking to attack. Just three minutes in, David broke from his own half, headed into the opponent's box, and took a left-footed shot. The goalkeeper made the save.
Flamengo made a strong start in the 20th minute. David took a powerful shot, the goalkeeper rebounded, and Joshua nearly opened the scoring with a header. The first half ended 0-0.
The Nest Boys continued to push for a goal in the second half. In the 14th minute, Joshua appeared well-placed to shoot, but the goalkeeper saved it. Flamengo then had another good chance. Wanderson crossed from the right, and David headed the ball in, but it wasn't quite there.
In the 34th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Christian played a one-two, burst into the box, cleared the play, and fired a shot into the corner: 1-0. In the final minutes, the Red-Blacks extended their lead. Bidu, who came on in the second half, received the ball on the left and fired from outside the box. The ball went into the corner: 2-0. The match ended with a Red-Black victory!

Next, the U-17 Boys from Ninho took the field and tied the derby with Botafogo 2-2. Eduardo Gabriel and Euder scored the red-and-black goals. Flamengo lost 5-3 in the penalty shootout.
The game
Just one minute into the game, Flamengo opened the scoring! Eduardo Gabriel, from outside the box, hit a beautiful shot to make it 1-0.
In the 18th minute, Botafogo equalized with Fabiano, making it 1-1. In the 29th minute, Flamengo created a dangerous opportunity. After a move down the right, Matheus took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it with a reflex save.
In the final stretch of the first half, Mengão scored the second. A good play by Matheus, Felipe Lima pulled the defense, and Euder hit a left-footed cross: 2-1.
In the second half, Botafogo tied the match again at 31', with a goal from Lucas Vargas: 2-2. The classic went to penalties.
In the penalties, Botafogo got the better of it and won 5-3.
