In matches held this Saturday afternoon (7) at Gávea Stadium, Flamengo's U-15 and U-17 teams thrashed Resende 6-1 (David [3], Lucas Vieira, Bidu and own goal) and 5-2 (Lorran [2], Felipe [2] and Euder) respectively, securing their places in the Copa Rio semifinals. Ranked third overall, the U-17s will face Fluminense. Runner-up in the first phase, the U-15s will play against Vasco, with the advantage of qualifying for the final with two equal results. FlaTV+ will broadcast both matches live.

U-17s open the proceedings with a rout

The U-17s took the field first, needing a win to qualify for the semifinals without relying on any other result. They opened the scoring in the ninth minute, with another goal from top scorer Lorran. In the thirteenth minute, Euder received the ball from Lorran and struck powerfully to extend the lead. Resende threatened in the 12th minute of the second half, with a goal from Nycolas. Not wanting to leave any room for misfortune, Mengão scored the third in the following minute, through Felipe. In the 30th minute, Resende reduced the deficit again, this time through David Kauão. But the Ninho Boys killed the game, again through Felipe after a beautiful individual play by debutant Claudio Thalis in the 38th minute, and through Lorran, who scored another stunning goal in the 42nd minute, following an assist from Felipe.

It was coach Mario Jorge's last game for the U-17s. From Monday (9), he takes over the Flamengo U-20 team. Leo Ramos moves up from the U-16s and will be the U-17s coach.

Flamengo: Daniel Alves, Gusttavo, Erick, Carbone, Gonçalo; Daniel, Vitor Fonseca, Lorran; Felipe, Euder and Jonathan. Coach: Mario Jorge.
