In duels held on the hot morning of this Sunday (09), in Gávea, Flamengo's U-15 and U-17 teams defeated Nova Iguaçu, respectively, by 4x0 (Matheus França, João Vitor, Londrina and Petterson) and 3x0 (Weverton, Lázaro and Maycon), in the single matches valid for the quarterfinals of the Guanabara Cup. With the victories, the Garotos do Ninho guaranteed their places in the semifinal, when they will once again play a double round next Saturday, this time having Vasco as their opponent, in the duels for the place in the final of the round. Vasco will have the advantage of playing at home and also the advantage of playing for a draw in both categories, for having had a better campaign in the classification phase.

The U-15s took the field first and opened the scoring in the 12th minute. João Filipe unleashed a powerful shot that hit the post. Matheus França tapped the rebound into the net. Nova Iguaçu threatened in the 30th minute with a powerful shot from Cauã. Francisco Dyogo parried the danger away. But it was the red-and-blacks who extended their lead in the 34th minute, with a cross-shot from João Vitor.

Despite the significant lead, the "Garotos do Ninho" maintained their offensive play in the second half and secured the rout. In the eighth minute, João Vitor delivered a beautiful pass to Petterson, who fired a clever cross-shot into the net for the third. Londrina extended their lead in the 14th minute, tapping it into the back of the net after a corner kick and a rebound inside the box. In the 21st minute, Petterson made a great play and chipped the ball over the crossbar. The 4-0 rout guaranteed the "Mais Querido"'s qualification for the Guanabara Cup semifinals.

Flamengo's first chance at goal came in the fifth minute, when Carlos Daniel headed the ball. Goalkeeper Breno made the save without rebounding. In the 16th minute, Flamengo created another excellent opportunity with an attacking triangle that ended with a shot over Marcos Felipe's goal. The game was evenly matched, but the "Garotos do Ninho" (Flamengo Boys) created more chances and threatened the opposing goal. In the 28th minute, Carlos Daniel cut through the defense and shot wide. In the next play, Flamengo opened the scoring. Weverton received the ball in the semi-circle and fired a beautiful shot into the corner, leaving Breno with no chance.

Early in the second half, Nova Iguaçu nearly equalized with a Marcos shot inside the box. Bruno, the red-and-black powerhouse, surged forward, closed the corner, and made the save, maintaining the red-and-black lead. Nova Iguaçu went on the attack and extended the lead with Lázaro in the 19th minute. It was Flamengo's top scorer's 17th goal of the season, scoring his tenth consecutive goal. In the dying minutes, Maycon curled in a perfect free kick to score Flamengo's third, sealing Flamengo's place in the semifinal against Vasco.
