Opponents in the Brazil-Japan Friendship Cup final, in September, in which Rubro Negro was champion, the under-15 teams of Flamengo and Corinthians face each other again in the fight for the BH Cup title, this Sunday (14.12), at 9 am. The finalists were defined on Saturday morning (13.12), after the Rubro-Negro's victory over Atlético-MG and the São Paulo team's victory over Cruzeiro. Those commanded by Gilmar Popoca beat Galo 3-0, with goals from Matheus Soares (2) and Marques, at Toca da Raposa I, in Belo Horizonte.
"We made some adjustments compared to the previous game, to better organize the team, to get the ball out, and to have more possession. Atlético is extremely talented and fast, so we tried to block their exit. The players who came on did what we asked, it was wonderful," praised Gilmar, who also spoke about his expectations for the final.
"First, we'll try to get the boys back. The games are very intense, against very strong opponents. We'll talk and develop a strategy. We already know Corinthians and know they're a great team that's also going after this title. It'll be a great game, and we hope to win the cup for the first time," he concluded.
The game started with Flamengo pressing hard, and after four chances to open the scoring, captain Matheus Soares found the net with a header from a corner kick. Flamengo maintained control of the match in the second half, and Matheus scored for the second time. Atlético-MG also had three players sent off before Marques sealed the victory 3-0 and secured their place in the final.
The decision will also be made at Toca da Raposa I. After the match, a game will be held between artists, former players and active athletes.
