U-15 debuts in the Friendship Cup with a rout over Antlers Tsukuba (JAP)
The Ninho Boys beat the Japanese 6-0 and start their fight for their fifth title in the competition's history on the right foot.
By Ian Sena - inFighting for its fifth title in the history of the traditional competition, Flamengo's U-15 team, led by coach Mario Jorge, debuted in the Friendship Cup with a deserved 6-0 thrashing (João Marcelo [2], Londrina, Wesley, Petterson and Cauan Emanuel) over the Japanese team Antlers Tsukuba, in a match played early in the afternoon of this Wednesday (28) at CFZ. The Garotos do Ninho return to the field this Thursday, when they face Boavista at 14:15 pm, again at CFZ. A new red-black victory will practically guarantee the Mais Querido's place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The game began with few scoring chances, but the red-and-blacks dominated, with possession and control of the match. The first clear chance came in the 11th minute, when Dudu fired a shot over the Japanese crossbar. In the following play, the Garotos do Ninho opened the scoring when Rodrigo found João Marcelo unmarked inside the box. The center forward calmly and skillfully beat the goalkeeper and opened the scoring for the Mais Querido in the 2019 Friendship Cup.
Flamengo continued to dominate the match and nearly extended their lead in the 16th minute with a well-placed cross from Gabriel Bastos. In the 18th minute, Wesley attempted a cross into the box, but the ball nearly went in, hitting the crossbar. The Mais Querido's second goal came in the 22nd minute. After a corner kick, goalkeeper Kimura mistimed the ball, and Londrina tapped it into the back of the net. The Garotos do Ninho never slowed down, and the goals began to come naturally. In the 31st minute, Wesley burst down the right wing and fired a cross shot to score the third goal for the red-and-blacks.
The rout came early in the second half, with a stunning goal from Petterson, who in the sixth minute skillfully chipped the ball over goalkeeper Kimura. And it didn't stop there. In the 24th minute, Pedro made a beautiful play and passed it to João Marcelo, who dribbled past the goalkeeper and scored the Garotos do Ninho's fifth goal of the match. There was still time for Cauan Emanuel to score the sixth and seal the score with a header in the 30th minute after a beautiful cross from Pedro.
