After defeating Fluminense in Laranjeiras last Saturday and opening up a five-point lead at the top of the Taça Guanabara, Flamengo's U-15 team, led by coach Mario Jorge, is now in Salzburg, Austria, where they are preparing for their debut in The Next Generation Trophy 2018 Tournament, the category's World Championship.

With the right to represent Brazil in the important international competition after being crowned undefeated champion of the national phase of the Nike Premier Cup, the Mais Querido will open the World Cup with a double round this Thursday (16). At 13:05 pm (local time), Rubro-Negro will debut in the competition against Red Bull Leipzig (GER). Soon after, the Garotos do Ninho will return to the field, this time for the duel against Viitorul Constanta (ROM). The matches will have two halves lasting 25 minutes.

The top two teams will advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played in a knockout format. In addition to Flamengo, major international football teams will also be competing in Austria, including Chelsea (ENG), Benfica (POR), and Bayern Munich (GER), among others.

"I have a special affection for these boys, which goes far beyond just the sporting aspect. I consider them my sons. They've helped me immensely throughout my time at the club, and there couldn't be anything more special than having the opportunity to experience this momentous occasion, to compete in a world championship alongside them. We're very focused on not letting this opportunity slip away. We'll do everything in our power to win this competition and bring more joy to this fantastic fan base," said coach Mario Jorge.
