Under-15s lose to Bayern Munich on penalties at the World Cup in Austria
The Nest Boys defeat Chelsea in the sequence and will fight for the position of fifth best team in the world this Saturday
By Ian Sena - inIt was a close call, but it wasn't meant to be this time. After winning the two initial phase games on Friday, against Red Bull Leipzig (ALE) and Viitorul Constanta (ROM), Flamengo's Under-15 team, coached by Mario Jorge, played well and even opened up a 2-0 lead in the first half against Bayern Munich (GER), with goals from Jorge and Leoni, in a match played on Friday morning (17) at the Red Bull Akademie in Salzburg, Austria, valid for the quarter-finals of The New Generation Trophy 2018, the World Championship of the category. In the second half, however, the Germans equalized the score and took the decision to penalties, winning 4-3 and qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition.

It was then up to Flamengo to return to the field a few hours later to fight for the honorable fifth place in the Under-15 World Championship. Their first opponent on the road to this new objective was none other than Chelsea (ENG), and the Flamengo youth team proved once again that the excellent work carried out over the last few years in the club's youth system brings maturity earlier and earlier to the athletes who wear the sacred jersey and represent more than 40 million fans spread around the world. With another good performance, Flamengo defeated the English team 2-1, coming from behind, with two penalty goals from captain Diego.
On Saturday morning (18) at 10:45 am Brasília time, Flamengo will face the Romanian team Viitorul Constanta again, and if the victory from the first phase of the competition is repeated, they will return to Brazil carrying the title of fifth best team in the world in the Under-15 category.
