In a classic match held in Gávea on Saturday afternoon (July 01.07), Flamengo hosted Fluminense in the first leg of the Guanabara Under-15 Cup final. Despite being more aggressive and pushing for the goal for most of the match, the "Garotos do Ninho" were defeated 3-1 (Mayquinho). As a result, they are forced to win the return leg, scheduled for next weekend with Fluminense at their disposal, by at least two goals to take the match to penalties. A victory by three or more goals will give the "Mais Querido" the Guanabara Under-15 Cup title.

Fluminense opened the scoring with the first attack of the match, two minutes in, with Praxedes scoring a goal after a rebound from the defense. After the goal, the first 20 minutes were very evenly matched, with virtually no scoring chances for either side. Flamengo reached the 28th minute with Daniel, who shot from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Marcelo saved confidently after a deflection from the defense. In the 34th minute, after a good exchange of passes, Reinier struck a well-placed shot, and the ball neatly hit Marcelo's right post after a deflection from the defense. From a corner kick, Reinier headed again, for an excellent save from the goalkeeper. In the 38th minute, Caio took a free kick into the box and Vitor Hugo struck first time, forcing another great save from Marcelo, the standout performer of the first half. In the 40th minute, the Tricolor defense was poorly played, and Vitor Hugo shot from the edge of the box over the goal. Rubro-Negro was far superior, putting pressure on the opponent and already deserved at least the equalizer.

Just like in the first half, Fluminense scored early in the second half. In the third minute, Kaká scored a beautiful goal with a free kick that Nathan couldn't stop. In the sixth minute, Miguel scored the third. Vitor Hugo missed a good chance to reduce the deficit in the 3th minute, when Marcelo saved Fluminense once again. Flamengo reduced the deficit in the 6th minute with a masterful free kick by Mayquinho. A minute later, Mayquinho took another free kick from the edge of the box, the ball deflected off the wall and nearly ended up in the back of the net. Flamengo pressed hard in search of an equalizer, but were unable to reduce the score until the final whistle.
