In the second leg of the Carioca Sub-15 final, Flamengo lost to Fluminense 2-0 on Friday afternoon (11), in Gávea. As Rubro-Negro had won the first leg by the same score, the title was decided on penalties, with the tricolor team winning 4-2. With the result, the Garotos do Ninho finished the championship in second place.
The game
Despite a two-goal lead from the first leg, Flamengo began the match valuing possession in the attacking half. Needing a result, Fluminense adopted a high marking strategy to try to win possession in attack. In the 15th minute, Isaque opened the scoring for Flamengo with a shot from outside the box: 0-1.
Trailing on the scoreboard, the Garotos do Ninho tried to come out on top, but struggled to transition from defense to attack. In the 35th minute, the red-and-black team narrowly missed an equalizer. David provided an excellent pass to Kaio Nobrega, who entered the box and fired a low shot. The ball sailed past the goalkeeper's right post. The first half ended with the Tricolor team in the lead.
Just five minutes into the second half, Fluminense extended their lead through Riquelme, who fired a low shot from the edge of the box and the ball went under goalkeeper Léo Nannetti: 0-2. The refereeing was also uncooperative and failed to call some clear fouls in favor of Rubro-Negro.
Needing a goal to avoid a penalty shootout, the Nest Boys went on the attack. Despite their best efforts, the game ended up going to penalties.
In the competition, Fluminense came out on top, winning 4-2. Leonardo Cherede's team finished the competition as runners-up.
