In a match played on Saturday afternoon (07) at the Pituaçu Stadium in Salvador, Bahia, Flamengo's U-15 team faced Sport, in the quarterfinals of the Copa 2 de Julho. After a 0-0 draw in regular time, the Garotos do Ninho were unable to repeat the same performance as in other penalty shootouts that took place throughout the current season and were defeated 4-1. With the adverse result, Mais Querido says goodbye to the competition undefeated (and remains undefeated also in the 2018 season), having scored 25 goals and conceded only one in the six matches played.

A typical quarterfinal match in a major competition, the game was tightly contested and evenly matched from the start. As a result, very few scoring chances were created in the first half. In the 11th minute, João Pedro took a corner kick, and Diego rose above his defender to head the ball just wide of the Pernambuco team's post. In the 22nd minute, Victor Hugo took a shot from outside the box, but the Sporting goalkeeper made a solid save. And that was just before halftime.

The second half was much like the first. A tight, tight game, fiercely contested in the middle of the field, and with virtually no scoring chances. The only one came in the 12th minute, when João Pedro crossed into the box and Diego again rose high and headed dangerously, but the ball didn't go in.

Then came the penalty shootout. This time, the Nest Boys were unlucky and ended up losing 4-1, bowing out of the competition undefeated.
