It took thirteen rounds to reach the semifinals. And in these thirteen matches, only one defeat. This Wednesday (22), the classification came. The Mais Querido under-15 team beat Nova Iguaçu on penalties and secured the first spot in the final of the Guanabara Cup. After a 0-0 draw at the end of 80 minutes of regulation time (the rules provide for two 40-minute halves), the red-blacks won 5-4 in free kicks.
"This qualification was well-deserved. We went through many moments in this competition. Some moments of fluctuation, which is natural at the age of the athletes, but the team reached the final stretch very balanced emotionally and with well-defined tactical concepts," analyzed Dudu Patetuci, coach of the red-black children's team.
The grand final will be played in two matches. The first will be this Saturday (25) and the second on July 2. The opponent will be the winner of the match between Fluminense and Volta Redonda.
Also this Wednesday, in Gávea, Mais Querido's under-17s face Fluminense, also in the fight for a place in the final of the first round of the Campeonato Carioca.
