U-15s beat Vasco in Gávea and complete the red-black base trio in the finals of the State Championship
The Ninho Boys won the classic 3-1, and like the U-20 and U-17 teams, they will compete for the Guanabara Cup title next weekend.
By Ian Sena - inAfter the U-20 and U-17 tournaments, this Sunday (25.06) it was Flamengo's U-15 team's turn to secure a spot in the final of the Guanabara Cup, the first round of the State Championship. In a classic played in Gávea, the Garotos do Ninho defeated Vasco 3-1 (Reinier [2] and Lázaro), and completed the red-black trio in the finals of the State Championship. The three finals will be played next weekend. The U-20 in a single match, and the U-17 and U-15 categories in home and away matches.
In the 13th minute, Vitor Hugo shot dangerously for the first time in the game, but Vasco goalkeeper Ícaro made a good save. In the 16th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring. Maykinho took a masterful free kick that hit the crossbar. Reinier tapped the rebound into the back of the net. Soon after, the Boys from the Nest extended their lead. In a strong attacking move, Caio reached the goal line and crossed perfectly to Samuel, who simply laid it off for Reinier to score the second. In the 32nd minute, Vasco almost pulled one back. Gregorio surprised Nathan and took a shot from the edge of the area. The ball glanced off the left post of the Flamengo goal and went out for a goal kick. In the 36th minute, Vasco again had a good attacking move, but João Vitor's shot went over Nathan's goal.

Flamengo came out in the second half controlling the game and managing their lead in the scorching heat. In the 15th minute, Flamengo narrowly avoided extending their lead. Samuel made a fine individual play and switched the play to Lázaro, who fired a powerful shot that Ícaro saved. In the 19th minute, Flamengo scored the third with a perfect Lázaro free kick, unstoppable by the goalkeeper. Vasco reduced the deficit in the 32nd minute with a penalty kick from Matheus Lima. In the 35th minute, Reinier took a free kick, and Ícaro performed a miracle. Reinier then volleyed a shot that Ícaro saved, and Marcos Felipe fired on the rebound, forcing another spectacular save from Ícaro.
"This is the result of our work. Not just ours here at the U-15s, but the entire youth team at Flamengo. I know I did well individually today, but I want to thank the entire coaching staff and my teammates, because without everyone's help, none of this would be possible. We'll return strong to training this week, to achieve our main goal of winning the Taça Guanabara title," said midfielder Reinier.
