The game
The derby began with both teams closely studying each other. Flamengo tried to pressure Vasco's ball out, as Vasco sought to attack. Gradually, the "Garotos do Ninho" (Nest Boys) began to loosen up and occupy more of the attacking zone. With few clear-cut scoring chances, the first half ended goalless.

Just two minutes in, Lucas Vieira controlled the ball at the edge of the box, hit a half-volley, and hit the goalkeeper's left post. Flamengo came out with a different attitude in the second half and attacked Vasco more. In the 8th minute, Tallyson received the ball at the edge of the box, cut through the defense, and fired a shot. Nicolas palmed it away for a corner.

Next, a corner kick was taken, and João Victor fired a powerful left-footed shot, drawing another fine save from the Vasco goalkeeper. In the 26th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Bidu raced down the right, entered the box, and struck powerfully. João Paulo, in a well-positioned position, slotted the ball into the net: 1-0.

At 28', Vasco tied the classic with Lipão, who crossed the ball without a chance for Léo Nannetti: 1-1. Rubro-Negro searched for the second goal until the end, but the match ended in a draw and went to penalties.

In the penalty shootout, "Mais Querido" prevailed, winning 4-2, earning the extra point in the competition. Goalkeeper Léo Nannetti was a standout performer, saving two penalties.
