Flamengo's under-15 team, champions of the Votorantim Cup, left for Porto Feliz, in the interior of São Paulo, on Tuesday morning (14.04) to compete in the Nike Cup. The group led by coach Dudu Patetuci needs to qualify among the top two in the quadrangular to advance in the competition. The opponents will be defined at the technical congress on Tuesday night (14.04) and the first match will be on Wednesday (15.04).

"The Nike Cup is a very important competition in the category's calendar because it provides accreditation for an international competition and features the best teams in the country. It is well organized, with facilities and fields well suited for soccer. The team is confident of its good performance due to the very satisfactory preparation period," said Kadu Borges, the team's technical coordinator.

A qualifier for an international stage, the Nike Cup hosts Brazil's 16 best clubs in three phases. Initially, there are four quadrangular rounds, with the top two from each qualifying. There will be four semifinals, and the four teams that qualify, in a single match, will form the final quadrangular round. The team with the most points earns a spot in the international stage, whose location has yet to be determined. Games consist of two 20-minute halves and take place daily in the morning and afternoon shifts.

"The grueling and highly competitive sequence. Our expectations are very high. We know the difficulty of the competition due to the high level of the teams and their unique characteristics, but we will seek qualification in the group stage and advance to the semifinals. Then we will play the final stage, with four clubs playing each other, and the club with the most points will be crowned champion," explained coach Dudu Patetuci.
