Flamengo will compete for the Brasil Soccer Cup title against Vasco da Gama. The final is scheduled for this Saturday (25), at 11 am, at the Cláudio Moacyr de Azevedo Stadium, the Moacyrzão, in Macaé, which is located in the North-Fluminense Region. The red-black team beat Palmeiras 2-0 in the semifinals played in the early afternoon of this Friday, at the venue where the final will be held. The winning goals were scored by Léo and Ryan.
After a fairly balanced first half with some good scoring opportunities that almost gave Flamengo the lead, the first half ended in a goalless draw. The Flamengo youth team was already playing better when Marcos Pierre entered the penalty area on the left and was brought down by the Palmeiras defender. Léo struck the ball powerfully, giving the goalkeeper no chance, and opened the scoring for Flamengo in the 26th minute of the second half.
The lead gave the team confidence, as they were practically unchallenged defensively and almost capitalized on counter-attacks to secure their place in the final. Then, in the 37th minute, Ryan exchanged passes with Léo in another offensive play down the left flank and fired a low, cross-shot into the left corner of the Palmeiras goalkeeper's net.
Before beating the São Paulo team, Mengão won 2-1 against Goiás in the quarterfinals, with goals from Davi Fraga and Zé Eduardo, on Thursday (23). In the round of 16, Fla had thrashed Ajax Macaé 9-1, in addition to having won three victories in the qualifying phase: 5-0, at Independente; 10-0, at Sporting Friburgo; and 2-1, at Rio Branco-ES. With 100% success, Rubro-Negro scored 30 goals and conceded only three.
