Already guaranteed a place in the semifinals of the Gramado Laghetto U-16 Cup, Flamengo defeated Grêmio 1-0 on Thursday afternoon (30), at the Ernesto Volk-RS Sports Complex. The Mais Querido's goal was scored by Riquelmy, in the second half. With the victory, Mengão ended the first phase of the competition with a 100% success rate. The red-black team will face Internacional-RS in the next phase.

The game
The first half began with Grêmio pressing Flamengo's ball out, as they struggled to break out of their own half. Needing a win to advance, the Rio Grande do Sul team took the initiative and kept possession for longer. In the 20th minute, the Garotos do Ninho created their first good opportunity. Euder, the Flamengo captain, took a shot from the edge of the box, but the ball went just wide of the post.

Little by little, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) began to loosen up and began to occupy more of the attacking zone. In the 27th minute, Adriel carried the ball through midfield and, just outside the box, struck a powerful shot toward the middle of the goal, which the goalkeeper saved. In the final stretch of the first half, the game picked up pace, with both teams exploiting counterattacks.

In the second half, the match became more measured. Having qualified for the next stage of the competition, Flamengo slowed down with an eye on the semifinals. Even so, the Boys from the Nest didn't give up on attacking and continued to create opportunities. In the 13th minute, Bill arrived from the left side of the box and fired a powerful shot, forcing Cássio to palm the ball away for a corner.

Meanwhile, Flamengo goalkeeper Lucas Furtado also made some excellent saves, preventing Grêmio from taking the lead. In the 19th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Lorran unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, the goalkeeper palmed it away, and Riquelmy, well-positioned, pounced on the rebound to slot the ball into the back of the net: 1-0. It's worth noting that the striker is the U-16 team's top scorer this season with eight goals.

In the final minutes of the game, Mais Querido managed their advantage well and left the field with another victory, their third in a row, maintaining their unbeaten run and 100% success rate in the competition.

Next appointment
The Garotos do Ninho return to the field this Friday (1) to face Internacional-RS, at 15:30 pm, in the semi-final of the Gramado Laghetto Sub-16 Cup.
