Flamengo U-16 lost 3-1 to Vasco in the second leg of the Guilherme Embry Tournament semifinal. The result eliminated the red-and-black team, which is now focusing on preparing for the Flamengo Adidas Cup U-16 in December.

The game

The opening minutes of the decisive match saw intense debate between the teams. While Mengão sought to exploit plays down the right, the opponent forced mistakes from Flamengo's defense. The game changed when Yago was injured in the 13th minute, and shortly thereafter, a player from each team received a red card after an exchange of aggression: Pablo for Flamengo and João Victor for Vasco.

Mengão's biggest chance of the first half came just before halftime. In the 40th minute, the play was worked from Léo Nannetti onwards. The Rubro-Negro took advantage of the space created by the opponent's passing and created a threat down the left. Italo fed Joshua, who dribbled through the ball; the defense cut back, and Fred grabbed the rebound with a dangerous shot. Alan Santos then received the ball on the left and crossed first time, perfectly placed for Fred, who headed home, but the opposing goalkeeper made a good save.

The second half didn't go well, however. In the 2nd minute, Vasco opened the scoring. The #GarotosDoNinho's reaction came minutes later, when Lucas Vieira won the ball back on the right wing and immediately crossed into the box, where Joshua finished between the goalkeeper's legs. However, in the 8th minute, the home team scored their second.

After changes made by coach Raphael Bahia, the U-16s created two chances to equalize and turn the game around. First, Douglas Telles received the ball on the left, cut inside, and shot dangerously at goal, forcing the goalkeeper to send it out for a corner. Then, Lucas Vieira played a one-two with Douglas Telles in the middle and shot powerfully at goal, going wide on the left. Vasco, however, scored the third and sealed the lead in the 32nd minute.

The Garotos do Ninho return to training this Thursday (15), changing the key for the Flamengo Adidas Cup. The category defends the title of the competition, which is the largest international youth football tournament ever organized in Brazil. The Flamengo Adidas Cup starts on December 11.
