The Under-16 and Under-17 categories returned this Monday morning (30) to the George Helal Training Center to begin pre-season work in 2022. Only physical assessments and medical examinations were carried out on this first day of training.
"The assessments we carried out here on this first day of work are fundamental to the individual process carried out with each athlete throughout the entire season. Today, we analyzed and understood the laboratory, physical, balance, and coordination aspects of each player, and all of this serves as parameters that will be used throughout the year," said Fernando Sassaki, doctor of the Flamengo Youth Football Department.
Having won all the national competitions he participated in with the Under-17 team in 2021 (Brazilian Championship, Copa do Brasil and Supercopa), coach Mario Jorge spoke about the new challenges for the 2022 season.
"We have new challenges this season. We won't be competing in the Copa do Brasil, but we will return to playing in international competitions (Puskas, in Hungary, and Dallas, in the United States). These are competitions we have participated in before and won. Therefore, we understand the importance they have in the development of our athletes, and they become major objectives for the Under-17 category in 2022, as well as the Brazilian Championship and the State Championship," concluded Mario Jorge.
