This Tuesday (31), Flamengo's under-16 team debuted with a 5-0 thrashing of Botafogo, in the Guilherme Embry Tournament. Champions in 2015, the red-blacks repeated the opponent and the location of the title won last year: they beat the black-and-white team, at CEFAT, in Várzea das Moças, in Niterói. In the next round, the Mais Querido faces Vasco, in Gávea, on May 7, at 9 am.

"It was a good debut, and we're defending the title. We played a great game. We can see that even by the score. Starting against Botafogo and then Vasco, we started the competition at a strong pace. The team deserves congratulations; they did everything we asked of them. A very good victory," said Marcio Torres, the boys' coach in the competition. Marcio, who is also the assistant coach of the under-17 team, led the group to the title in 2015.
