After narrowly missing out in the first round, the Garotos do Ninho were crowned champions of the second round of the Guilherme Embry Under-16 Tournament, on Wednesday morning (26), in Gávea. In a match valid for the last round of the competition, Flamengo beat Piscinão de Ramos 5-0, with goals from Vinicius, Felipinho, Mayquinho, Jean Carlos and Gabriel Borsatto.

With the best overall record and aiming for their second consecutive tournament title, Flamengo faces Botafogo next Wednesday at 9 am, at a location yet to be determined, in the first leg of the final triangular tournament. Fluminense, currently third in the overall standings behind Flamengo and Botafogo, also qualifies for the final stage. It's worth noting that Flamengo enters the competition with a bonus point for winning the second round.

The game:

Coach Leonardo Cherede's team entered the match very focused; victory was the only result that mattered. However, despite dominating the first half, they failed to convert their chances into goals. Their best opportunities came from set pieces. In the 8th minute, Daniel Cabral was fouled just outside the penalty area. Samuel took the free kick, shooting straight at the goalkeeper.

Also taking a free kick, Peçanha aimed for the left corner, but once again the goalkeeper was alert to prevent the Flamengo goal and parried the ball out for a corner. After the corner, Weverton jumped higher than the defense and headed the ball just wide of the opponent's goal, unmarked.

Flamengo's clearest chance in the first half came from Caio, who unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box. The ball was heading straight for the goal, but the visiting team's goalkeeper made a flying save to palm the ball away.

The Flamengo rout began to take shape right after the break. Two minutes in, Mayquinho, who came on at halftime replacing Rykelmo, took a corner kick into the box, Daniel Cabral flicked it on, and defender Vinicius headed it in to open the scoring.

After a few missed opportunities, including a shot that hit the crossbar, Flamengo extended their lead. Mayquinho found Jhonatan running at speed on the right, the full-back looked into the box and crossed perfectly for Felipinho to finish past the goalkeeper. Flamengo 2 x 0 Piscinão

Just like in the last few matches, Mayquinho came on in inspired form. After a play down the left flank, the ball fell to the number 16, who unleashed a beautiful, unstoppable shot into the top corner! And it didn't stop there; the visiting team barely had time to recover from the third goal when Jhonatan, once again, delivered a brilliant cross. This time, Jean Carlos was there to finish it off, scoring the fourth goal for the Flamengo youth team.

As the referee was preparing to blow the final whistle, Gabriel Borsatto sealed the victory for Flamengo. After a corner kick from the right, the striker scored with a diving header.
