Under-16s thrashed Vasco in the Guilherme Embry Tournament
A 6-3 victory maintains the team's unbeaten run in the competition and leaves the Garotos do Ninho well positioned in the standings.
By Ian Sena - inIn a classic played on the morning of this Wednesday (23) valid for the third round of the Guilherme Embry Under-16 Tournament, the State Championship of the category, the Garotos do Ninho thrashed Vasco in Gávea by a score of 6x3 (Lázaro [2], Gabriel Noga, Hugo, Jean Carlos and Gabriel dos Santos). With the victory, Mais Querido surpasses Vasco itself and reaches eight points in the classification table. In the next round, Rubro-Negro will have another classic ahead: Fluminense, on Wednesday (30) at 9 am, in Xerém.
The game
The pressure was on from the opening whistle, and the first one came early. Just five minutes in, Jean Carlos sent a low cross from the left, and Lázaro appeared perfectly positioned to open the scoring. In the eighth minute, Caio made a great individual play and passed to Jean Carlos, who was fouled at the edge of the box. Caio headed the ball to Gabriel Noga, who rose higher than the defense and doubled the lead. Flamengo dominated the game and scored the third goal before the 20th minute. Jean Carlos received the ball in midfield, carried the ball, and fired a smart shot from the edge of the box, leaving goalkeeper Reinaldo with no chance.
In the 35th minute, Jean Carlos delivered a beautiful pass behind the defense to Caio, who unleashed a first-time bomb. The ball exploded off Reinaldo's right post, who simply watched and cheered. The rout came in the first half. In the 45th minute, after a corner kick, Lázaro delivered a beautiful bicycle kick, and Hugo followed up for the fourth goal.

The second half began as the first had ended: with a goal for Vasco. Just three minutes in, Gabriel dos Santos left Lázaro in excellent position to score. The striker made no mistake and scored the fifth. In the ninth minute, a ball played into the box, Rodrigo reduced the deficit for Vasco. In the 15th minute, Rodrigo scored again, with a beautiful shot into the top corner. The midfielder completed his hat trick in the 37th minute with a penalty. In the final play of the match, Gabriel dos Santos received the ball at the edge of the box, beat his defender, and slotted it past the goalkeeper to seal another victory for Vasco in the competition.
"It's always good to score goals, especially in a derby against Vasco, but the whole team deserves congratulations. We had some great training sessions this week, and it showed on the field. Now we'll rest and start preparing for the next round's derby against Fluminense," said top scorer Lázaro.
