After beating Al Wasl from the United Arab Emirates 5-1 in their debut, the Garotos do Ninho U-16 team did even better in the second round of the 8th Dubai International Football Championship. In a match played on Thursday afternoon (12) at the Dubai Police Officers Club Stadium, the Mais Querido mercilessly beat Al Ahly, from Egypt, 8-0 (Reinier [2], Lázaro [2], Pedro Arthur [2], Gabriel and Maycon). With this rout, Rubro-Negro is already qualified for the semifinals of the competition, where they will most likely face Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund. Before that, however, Rubro-Negro plays the last match of the group stage against PSV, from the Netherlands, on Saturday (14) at 19:30 pm, Dubai local time.
The scoring spree began just three minutes into the match, when Reinier picked up the rebound at the edge of the box, dribbled past a defender, and fired a shot into the goalkeeper's left corner. In the 20th minute, Flamengo extended their lead. Reinier played a through ball to Caio, who crossed to the near post toward Lázaro. The striker anticipated his marker and deflected the ball with a backheel, scoring the second. Flamengo had largely dominated the match, but saved the remaining goals for the second half.
In the second minute, Pedro Arthur intercepted a pass in midfield, drove the ball in, and fired a low shot. The goalkeeper slipped, and the seemingly unassuming ball went into the right corner. In the 20th minute, Caio crossed from the left to Lázaro's head, rose higher than the entire opposing defense, and headed home the fourth goal. The fifth came shortly after, in the 22nd minute. Pedro Arthur received the ball on the left wing, easily beat his marker, and skillfully beat the goalkeeper.
Don't lose count! In the 29th minute, Caio dribbled past the defender and sent a low cross to Maycon, who tapped it into the back of the net for his sixth goal. There was still time for more. In the 45th minute, Reinier took a chance from the edge of the box and surprised the goalkeeper, who was unable to prevent the Mais Querido's seventh goal of the game. And in the 47th minute, in stoppage time, Reinier passed the ball to Gabriel, who beat the goalkeeper and further extended the rout, giving the final tally to yet another massacre for the red-and-blacks in Dubai.
