Flamengo's U-16 team, led by coach Ramon Lima and current undefeated champion of the Dubai International Tournament, defeating Real Madrid in the final, went to Xerém on Wednesday morning (06) to face Fluminense in the fourth round of the Guilherme Embry Tournament, the State Championship of the category. With four players called up to the Brazilian U-17 Team on the field (Reinier, Gabriel Noga, Caio and Pedro Arthur), the Garotos do Ninho did not give the opponent the slightest chance and, even playing away from home, won the classic 3-1 (Reinier [2] and Peçanha), remaining undefeated in the defense of the competition's title and reaching 11 points won in four matches, reaching second place one point behind Botafogo. In the next round, the Mais Querido faces Nova Iguaçu, again away from home.

The game

In the 21st minute, Flamengo made a mistake in their clearance, and Fluminense nearly opened the scoring through Kaká, but goalkeeper Bruno came out on time and made an important save. Fluminense nearly opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Reinier delivered a beautiful pass to Samuel, who beat his marker and crossed to Lázaro. The Flamengo striker struck first-time past goalkeeper Igor, but the ball went just wide of the Tricolor's right post.

The derby was tight, but Flamengo boasts exceptional players capable of deciding a match in a split second. That's what happened in the 33rd minute. Mayquinho delivered a beautiful pass over the defense to Reinier. The number 10 outwitted the defense, anticipated the goalkeeper's exit, and skillfully tapped the ball in to open the scoring for the Boys from the Nest. Fluminense equalized with a beautiful solo goal from Kaká in the 36th minute.

Flamengo started the second half looking for more goals. In the ninth minute, after a rebound in the box, the ball fell to Lázaro. He struck hard first time, and Igor flew to make a great save and save Fluminense, palming the ball out for a corner. In the 24th minute, Reinier unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box, forcing Igor into another good save.

Fluminense came close with a shot from Bruno in the 32nd minute. It was the red-and-black goalkeeper's turn to make a fine save, saving the Mais Querido. The Garotos do Ninho were the better team, and justice was served in the 38th minute. Mayquinho's free kick hit the wall, and the referee awarded a penalty after the ball clearly hit the tricolor player's hand. Reinier took the shot with skill, displacing the goalkeeper, and scored his second goal of the match. In the final play of the derby, Reinier cut through the defense and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. With the ball already on the line, Peçanha, who had just come on, tapped it into the back of the net, sealing another victory for the red-and-black youth team in Rio derbies this season. Flamengo remains undefeated and has earned 11 points from four games in the 2018 Guilherme Embry Tournament.
