The under-16 team took to the field on Wednesday morning (21), in Gávea, to face Fluminense in a crucial game for the Mais Querido's ambitions in the Guilherme Embry Tournament, the State Championship of the category. With a goal from Mayquinho from a free kick, the Garotos do Ninho won 1-0 and took the lead in the final triangular, tied on points with Botafogo, but with an advantage due to the fact that they had the better overall campaign throughout the first phase. The red-black team's next game will be next week, precisely against Botafogo, again in Gávea, and a simple victory could mean the early conquest of the competition's second championship.

The Ninho Boys knew the importance of victory and went on the attack from the start. Just five minutes in, Caio took a shot from outside the box over the goal, posing a threat to Igor's goal for the first time. In the eighth minute, Flamengo opened the scoring. Mayquinho delivered a perfect free kick into the box. The ball sailed past everyone and into Igor's goal. 

Even after the goal, the Rubro-Negro continued to attack. In the thirteenth minute, Samuel fired a low shot from outside the box, and Igor made a good save. Three minutes later, Mayquinho took a first-time shot from outside the box, and Igor made another save. In the 29th minute, the Tricolor defense gave way to Samuel, who outwitted him and stole the ball. He drove it into the box and hit a cross-shot. The ball capriciously hit the post and bounced back into Igor's hands. 

The second half started more evenly. The first red-and-black attack came in the 12th minute, with a weak shot from Jean Carlos. The following minute, Peçanha fired over the Tricolor goal. Fluminense only threatened for the first time in the 26th minute. Miguel's cross was well saved by Bruno, who signed his first professional contract with Flamengo earlier in the week. The final minutes of the match were tense and full of fighting. Organized in their defensive system, Flamengo easily withstood the opponent's final pressure, securing the victory and taking the lead in the final triangle of the Guilherme Embry Tournament, with four points.
