In a very tight game, with a lot of marking, played on the synthetic grass of the Francisco Novelletto Stadium, in Porto Alegre, Flamengo managed a draw with one goal, after losing to Internacional, in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, this Monday (1). Defender Pedro Pinho scored the red-black goal, in the 40th minute of the second half.

Flamengo's next match in the competition will be on September 17th, against São Paulo, at 15 pm, at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium in Gávea. It will be the penultimate match of the qualifying phase.

The game

Early in the match, Flamengo had more possession, but without posing much threat to the opposing defense. And just four minutes in, Flamengo's number 4, Gabriel Werneck, struggled to block a point-blank shot from Internacional's striker. After this move, the team from Rio Grande do Sul began to monitor the ball out and controlled the game a bit more, despite not creating much offensively.

In the 17th minute, Flamengo had its first big chance with number 2 Diego Guimarães, who made a beautiful dribble down the right, entered the box, and shot, which the goalkeeper saved. Flamengo responded with a quick counterattack that ended with an easy save by Werneck. In the 22nd minute, Inter's right-back Richard hit a powerful shot, which the Flamengo goalkeeper tried to block, and the ball went out of bounds.

Flamengo attacked again in the 31st minute, with a well-worked move down the left that resulted in a dangerous shot from João Carlos. The best chance of the first half also fell to João Carlos, who came face to face with the goal and shot wide left. Before the half ended, Gabriel Werneck still had time to make a safe save.

In the second half, Inter opened the scoring with their first attack in the 2nd minute, with a cross-shot from striker Raykkonen. In the 9th minute, the home team threatened again, again with Raykkonen. João Carlos retaliated with a shot from outside the box, following a pass from Emanuel. The Colorado goalkeeper palmed the ball away for a corner.

The game continued at a slower pace, with few strong attacks from either side. In the 25th minute, Internacional came close to scoring a second goal with a shot over the bar. Four minutes later, João Carlos' header grazed the goalkeeper's right post. The Rubro-Negro equalized in the 40th minute, thanks to a spirited play by Victor Hugo, who collected the rebound from a free kick and, from the right wing, crossed for Pedro Pinho to head home perfectly. Mengão still had two corners before the referee blew the final whistle.
