Just like in the first match played last week in Gávea, Flamengo's U-17 team controlled the game and was far superior to their opponent in the second leg of the Guanabara Cup final against Fluminense, played this Saturday morning (29), at Estádio das Laranjeiras. There were countless chances created, with the ball hitting the post and a goal disallowed by the referee. The final score of 2-1 (Pedro Arthur) in favor of the home team was unfair considering what both teams produced throughout the two matches, but gave the title of the first leg to Fluminense. The Mais Querido's next challenge will be next Wednesday (3), when they travel to Osasco to face São Paulo, in the first leg of the Brazilian Championship semifinal.

Like any decisive match, the derby started tensely, very evenly matched, and with few scoring chances. The first fell to Fluminense in the 12th minute, with a shot from outside the box by Calegari, to the left of Bruno's goal. Flamengo responded with the next play and narrowly missed opening the scoring. Pedro Arthur made a good run down the right wing and sent a low cross into the box. The ball went past Ryan Luka and Lázaro, but not past Carlos Daniel. He controlled the ball and struck hard, but the defense blocked it at the right moment and saved the Tricolor team.

The "Mais Querido" (Fluminense's Favorite) team began to arrive more frequently and pose a threat to the opposing goal. In the 19th minute, Marcos Felipe crossed, and captain Gabriel Noga nearly reached the ball to score the first goal of the final. Following the play, Ryan Luka shot from an angled angle, and the ball went out over the goal line. While the "Garotos do Ninho" (The Boys of the Nest) were playing better, Fluminense opened the scoring with a cross-shot from Miguel in the 21st minute. The "Mais Querido" (Fluminense's Favorite) team remained undeterred and went in search of an equalizer. In the 34th minute, Gabriel Noga's header skimmed the left post of goalkeeper Cayo Felipe, the last dangerous play before halftime.

Flamengo came back pressing at the start of the second half. Two minutes in, Pedro Arthur took a shot, and the goalkeeper made a save. The next minute, Lázaro took a cross, the defense cleared it on the line, and from the rebound, Daniel Cabral unleashed a bomb over the goal. With Ryan Luka and Davi sent off, the game became more open, and the "Garotos do Ninho" (Nest Boys) began to play offensively, looking for an equalizer. Cornered, Fluminense simply defended. The equalizer was not long in coming. Seven minutes in, Carlos Daniel made a good play and crossed for Pedro Arthur, who slotted it home to level the score.

Once again, when Fluminense was the better team, John Kennedy scored in the 17th minute. The "Garotos do Ninho" (The Nest Boys) returned to the fight and applied pressure. In the 22nd minute, Lázaro headed wide. In the 25th minute, Lázaro again hit a weak shot, but Cayo Felipe saved it. In the 29th minute, Otavio scored a stunning bicycle kick into the top corner. The referee, however, ruled it offside and disallowed the goal.

The red-and-black pressure was almost unbearable. In the 32nd minute, Will hit a cross-shot, and the defense blocked it with the goalkeeper already beaten. A minute later, Caio hit a cross-shot, and the ball hit the post. In the 38th minute, Will hit a shot from the penalty spot. The goalkeeper made a save, only to clear the ball on the line. The Mais Querido's last chance came in stoppage time, from a cross-shot by Marcos Felipe. Goalkeeper Caio Felipe made another save in the final play of the match.
