Flamengo's under-17 team debuted this Thursday in this year's Copa Rio. This season's traditional competition features 32 teams from across Brazil, divided into eight groups of four. The top two teams from each group qualify for the second phase of the competition. Despite losing 1-0 to Audax Rio this Thursday, Flamengo still has two more matches to qualify from Group C, which also includes Atlético-PR and Moto Clube-MA.
 
The Gávea youth team's next match will be this Friday at 11 a.m. at Arthur Sendas Stadium in São João de Meriti. The final round will take place on Saturday at the same venue. The opponent will be Moto Clube-MA.
