Mengão's U-17 team took to the field this Wednesday (2) and beat Fluminense 2-0 at Vale das Laranjeiras, in Xerém, in the second leg of the semifinals of the Carioca Championship in the category. Lorran and João Marcos scored the goals in the red-black victory. With the result, Mengão, in addition to reaching the final, also guaranteed qualification for the next edition of the U-17 Brazil Cup.

The game
Under the rain, the derby began with a fierce battle for possession. With the pitch heavy, both teams struggled to exchange passes in the opening minutes. Gradually, Flamengo gained more possession, moving the ball from foot to foot in search of space in the Tricolor defense. Fluminense also risked attacking plays.

In the 15th minute, Mengão created the first significant opportunity. João Marcos made a good run down the left side of the box and rolled the ball into the middle. Wallace Yan arrived with a low shot, and the ball went just wide of the goalkeeper's left post.

In the 21st minute, Flamengo opened the scoring with a stunning goal! Lorran made a beautiful individual play, weaved past the marking, entered the box and hit the corner to score a fantastic goal in Xerém: 0-1.

The Ninho Boys continued attacking and quickly scored their second goal. In the 32nd minute, Wallace Yan found João Marcos with a good pass inside the box. He fired a shot straight at the goalkeeper, and then slotted it home on the rebound: 0-2. The Red-Blacks went into halftime with a healthy lead.

Just a minute into the second half, the Mais Querido nearly scored a third. Following a corner, Carbone rose above the defense and headed dangerously. The ball went just wide of the post. In the 10th minute, Felipe Lima received the ball on the left side of the box, cut inside, and hit a low cross. The ball went just wide of the post.

Defender Iago headed in the third, but the referee ended up calling a foul. In the 32nd minute, another great chance was created. Felipe Lima won the ball back in midfield, advanced quickly, and ended up beating the goalkeeper, who closed the corner well.

Despite playing on poor turf, the Ninho Boys were superior from start to finish, putting in strong performances in both games. It's also worth noting that coach Léo Ramos expertly assembled the team, which relied heavily on players from the U-16 team throughout the campaign.

With the victory away from home, Mengão not only qualified for the State final, but also secured a spot in next year's Under-17 Brazil Cup.
