After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Flamengo's youth team returns to international competitions in the 2022 season (the exception being the Puskas Kupa in Hungary last year). And there couldn't be a better venue or tournament than the Generation Adidas Cup in Dallas, United States.

The prestigious tournament, which features 80 teams from around the world, was won by the Garotos do Ninho in 2018. This title began a winning streak, both in Brazil and around the world. Since then, in addition to breaking records in 2019 and 2021, with 27 titles won in its youth football department, Mengão has won no less than ten international titles in various categories.

In addition to Flamengo, the 2022 edition of the Adidas Generation Cup features the participation of all MLS teams, the North American Professional League, and major clubs in world football, such as Manchester United (ING), Porto (POR), Valencia (ESP), Celtic (ESC), River Plate (ARG), among others.

"Another great opportunity to develop our athletes, giving them the chance to compete abroad, facing various international soccer schools, and experiencing other cultures. It's a huge benefit not only from a sporting perspective, but also in shaping the athletes as citizens, something that is also one of our priorities. It's a great competition, very well organized and of the highest technical level, with the participation of important teams from around the world. As always, we're very strong and will strive for success," said Luiz Carlos, General Manager of Flamengo's Youth Soccer Department.

Led by Mario Jorge, the U-17 debuts this Sunday (10), at 17 pm, against Los Angeles FC (USA). On Monday (11), also at 17 pm, the opponent will be Weston (USA). Ending its participation in the group stage, Mais Querido faces Philadelphia Union (USA), on Tuesday (12), at 15 pm.

The U-15 team, led by Leonardo Cherede, takes to the field this Saturday (9), and debuts against Tigres (MEX), at 17 pm. On Sunday (10), at 23 pm, the opponent will be Nashville SC (USA). The Garotos do Ninho play the last round of the group stage on Monday (11) against Inter Miami, also from the United States. FlaTV broadcasts Flamengo's games in the competition live.
