U-17 is defeated by Fluminense in Laranjeiras
An adverse 3-0 result keeps Garotos do Ninho in the G4 of Group B of the Brazilian Championship in the category
By Ian Sena - inIn a classic match played this Saturday afternoon (31) at Estádio das Laranjeiras, valid for the sixth round of the Brazilian Championship in the category, Flamengo's Under-17 team fought and tried to pressure the opponent at some moments of the game, but ended up leaving the field defeated by Fluminense 3-0. The result keeps the Garotos do Ninho in fourth place in Group B of the competition, with ten points. The top four in each group guarantee a place in the knockout phase and in the fight for the Brazilian championship. Next Tuesday (November 03.11), Mais Querido hosts São Paulo, at Gávea, at 15 pm.
The Flamengo youth team started the game better positioned on the field and pressing from the first minute in search of a goal, creating good opportunities with Pedrinho, Petterson and Victor Hugo. But Fluminense opened the scoring in the 43rd minute with Arthur.
The second half followed a similar script. Flamengo started by going in search of an equalizer. At seven minutes, Mateus Dias headed dangerously wide to Cayo's right. At nine minutes, Petterson crossed low and Mateus Dias arrived a fraction of a second too late. At 18 minutes, Will stole the ball and passed to Petterson, who shot across goal from the edge of the area. Goalkeeper Cayo made another save. The Flamengo youth team pressed, but in an isolated play, Fluminense extended their lead at 22 minutes with Kayky. In stoppage time, Joilson sealed the final score.
