U-17 eliminates Athletico-PR with two wins and is in the semifinals of the Brazilian Championship
Totally dominant during the 180 minutes of the match, Garotos do Ninho easily go through and await Palmeiras or São Paulo.
By Ian Sena - inWithout giving their opponents a chance throughout the 180 minutes, Flamengo's U-17 team, led by coach Phelipe Leal, overcame Athletico Paranaense with two wins and an aggregate score of 6-1, easily securing a spot in the semifinals of the Brazilian Championship in that category. The 3-0 victory (Daniel Cabral, Ryan Luka and Will) in the second leg, played on Wednesday afternoon (26), in Gávea, was achieved without much effort and with the team resting in the second half, already thinking about the second leg of the Guanabara Cup final, scheduled for Saturday (29), at 10 am, at Estádio das Laranjeiras against Fluminense. In the Brazilian Championship, the Mais Querido awaits Palmeiras or São Paulo, who face each other tonight.

Despite a healthy lead from the first leg, the Garotos do Ninho went in search of victory from the first minute. Just six minutes in, Carlos Daniel had the first chance, but his shot went wide of goalkeeper Tiago Gomes's right. In the 9th minute, Caio crossed, and Ryan Luka narrowly missed the ball, opening the scoring for the Mais Querido. Flamengo was dominating the game and putting pressure on their opponents. In the 12th minute, Pedro Arthur took a shot from outside the box, but the ball threatened Atlético's goal.
Rubro-Negro opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Marcos Felipe received the ball wide on the right and delivered a beautiful cross to Daniel Cabral, who got ahead of his marker and tapped it into the back of the net, allowing Mais Querido to further extend their lead in the match.
The second half was a lukewarm affair. With the match virtually sealed, the Boys from the Nest managed the victory and slowed down, already thinking about the Guanabara Cup final. Even so, Flamengo was the better team and created the better scoring chances. In the 23rd minute, following a corner kick, Otavio headed the ball, but the defense cleared it on the line. Ryan Luka fired the rebound over the bar. A minute later, Pedro Arthur shot from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Tiago Gomes made a confident save.

Even without forcing much, Flamengo extended their lead and killed the game. In the 31st minute, center forward Ryan Luka, a starter for the U-16 team who, due to top scorer Lázaro's suspension and Weverton's injury, was making his U-17 debut, made his mark. After a great cross from Maycon, the number nine rose beautifully and headed the ball into the corner with style, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
In stoppage time, Will received the ball at the edge of the box and skillfully tapped it past the goalkeeper, scoring the third goal for the Garotos do Ninho and giving the final numbers to the score of another victory in the season, which guaranteed the Mais Querido a place in the semi-final of the national competition.
