Mengão's under-17 team is enjoying a great run in the Carioca Championship. Flamengo, on the rise, has risen from 4th place in the 10th round, when they drew 0-0 with Botafogo, and after four straight wins, they're now in second place, one point behind Vasco, who have 36. This Saturday's derby, at 15 pm, at CT Artsul, will be decisive for the Mais Querido's hopes for the year. A win against their rival would put Flamengo in the lead of the state championship, giving them some comfort as they turn their attention to the Taça BH, which begins on the 17th. 

Flamengo's only loss in the Carioca Championship came against the team from São Januário. For coach Phelipe Leal, despite being a classic, it's crucial to capitalize on Flamengo's good form to seek the victory that will secure the championship lead.

"Every classic has its weight, even more so when it's Flamengo vs. Vasco, with the championship lead at stake. Our opponent deserved our only loss in the competition, but I understand that the moment has changed, and we're prepared to maintain the good performance of recent matches," the coach declared.
