After achieving three victories in the three group stage matches (against Chapecoense, Portuguesa and América de Teófilo Otoni), Flamengo's U-17 team was unable to repeat its previous good performances and was defeated by Atlético MG by a score of 2-0, in a match held on Monday afternoon (23) at Arena do Jacaré, in Sete Lagoas. With the result, Mais Querido sees its journey in the competition interrupted in the round of XNUMX, and returns to Rio de Janeiro this Tuesday to continue the season and focus on the sequence of the State Championship and the Copa do Brasil, which will begin in September.

Atlético opened the scoring early in the match. In the third minute, Gabriel made a good individual play and crossed for Neto, who struck first-time, leaving Pedro Victor with no chance to save. The mature Garotos do Ninho didn't feel the goal, remaining organized on the field and fighting back. In the 18th minute, Rodrigo Muniz won the battle against the defenders in the opposing box and struck powerfully, forcing a good save from Junior. The derby was a tough affair, with few scoring opportunities. In the 42nd minute, Rhyan unleashed a bomb from outside the box, forcing another save from Junior, in the final play before halftime.
