In a match held on Friday night (25) on the terrible lawn of the Alceu Carvalho Stadium and valid for the semi-final of the Santiago Youth Football Cup, Flamengo's U-17 team fought hard, but lost 2-0 to Grêmio and was left out of the final of the 31st edition of the competition.

Flamengo started the game pressing Grêmio and nearly opened the scoring in the fourth minute. First, Lázaro unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box, but goalkeeper Adriel made a good save, palming it out for a corner. Otávio then headed the ball past the right post of the team from Rio Grande do Sul. Grêmio responded in the ninth minute with a shot from outside the box by Elias. Bruno was alert and made the save, warding off the danger.

In the 15th minute, midfielder Lucas Gabriel, who scored a stunning goal in the quarterfinals against Liverpool (URU), took a long-range shot, but Adriel made the save. The next minute, Grêmio opened the scoring with a goal from defender Natã. In the 22nd minute, the team from Rio Grande do Sul doubled their lead with Yan. Grêmio tried to reduce the deficit before halftime. In the 39th minute, after a corner kick, Weverton brushed the near post, but Arthur Chaves arrived late and narrowly avoided finding the back of the net. 

The Ninho Boys tried to find an equalizer in the second half and created three good chances. In the ninth minute, Jean Carlos crossed the ball, but Adriel saved. In the 15th minute, Luis Gustavo crossed, and Lázaro nearly got a good header from inside the box. In the 27th minute, after another cross from Luis Gustavo into the box, Weverton stretched out but couldn't get the ball into the Rio Grande do Sul goal.

As time ticked by, the game neared its end, but the Red-Blacks refused to give up. In the 33rd minute, Caio took a free kick near the box, which the defense deflected and nearly scored an own goal. The ball went out for a corner. In the 37th minute, Jean Carlos took a chance from outside the box and saw the ball fly just wide of Adriel's left post. The Red-Blacks' last chance came in stoppage time. Weverton struck a powerful shot on the turn, but the ball went too high.
