With impeccable performance, great team spirit, and a wealth of maturity, the U-17 team played like a grown-up and defeated São Paulo 2-0 at Morumbi Stadium (Yuri de Oliveira and Ítalo) in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. The result gives Flamengo a significant advantage in the match, as they can lose by up to one goal next week, likely at Gávea Stadium, to secure a spot in the semifinals. If they advance, Flamengo will face the winner of Santos and Coritiba.

The first ten minutes of the game at Morumbi were a time of intense study, with no scoring chances for either team. The first shot of the match fell to the red-and-blacks. Ten minutes in, Daniel Cabral received the ball at the edge of the box and shot dangerously to the left of Rafael's goal. A minute later, Lázaro passed it first time to Reinier, who drove it into the penalty area and crossed. The ball had a different spin and narrowly avoided going into the São Paulo goal. 

Flamengo was the better team on the field. In the 13th minute, Yuri de Oliveira fired a shot from the edge of the box, scaring Rafael. In the 20th minute, after a cross into the box, Daniel Cabral collected the rebound and unleashed a first-time shot. The ball grazed the crossbar and went wide. On the next play, Yuri de Oliveira delivered a perfect cross to Reinier, who fired a beautiful shot over the bar. 

The red-and-black pressure was almost unbearable, and the goal finally came in the 27th minute. Braian crossed low and found Yuri de Oliveira, perfectly positioned at the far post, who rolled the ball into the back of the net and opened the scoring for the Boys of the Nest. In the 30th minute, after a foul in Flamengo's favor in the attacking half, São Paulo defender Morato headbutted Reinier and was promptly sent off by the referee, which was correct. São Paulo's first chance came only in the 40th minute. After a cross from the right, Pedro Victor partially cleared it. Maia collected the rebound, and the ball was headed toward goal, but the red-and-black goalkeeper recovered the play and flew to make a beautiful save, maintaining the Mais Querido's lead on the scoreboard going into the locker room.

São Paulo returned for the second half looking to maintain the pressure and increase the lead. In the fifth minute, Rhyan unleashed a rocket with his left foot, which blew the ball away from the Tricolor goal. In the 11th minute, Reinier found a beautiful central pass through the middle of the defense for Daniel Cabral, who challenged the goalkeeper and narrowly missed scoring the second. São Paulo threatened the following minute, with Vitinho shooting over the goal. And again in the 20th minute, with Maia's shot being superbly saved by Pedro Victor, who palmed it out for a corner.

The "Garoto do Ninho" (The Nest Boys) were superior throughout the match, and their final reward came in the final kick. João Gabriel delivered a perfect cross to Ítalo, who rose beautifully and sealed the victory for the red-and-blacks at Morumbi Stadium, which puts the "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) on the verge of qualifying for the semifinals of the U-17 Brazil Cup.
