U-17 defeats Athletico-PR in the first game of the Brazilian quarterfinals

In a decisive week for the U-17s, the Garotos do Ninho managed to overcome The first match went very well. In the first leg of the Brazilian Championship quarterfinals, Flamengo defeated Athletico-PR 3-1 at Pinhão Stadium in Paraná. On an inspired afternoon, defender Otávio scored two goals in less than three minutes in the first half, and Carlos Daniel added the third for Flamengo. João Victor pulled one back for the home side in the second half.

Just 12 minutes into the first half, the Rio de Janeiro Red-and-Blacks created a threat. Lázaro played a good play with Weverton, and the ball fell to Carlos Daniel, who took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. In the 16th minute, Werverton once again threatened Atlético. The Mais Querido striker attempted a shot from outside the box, which deflected off the opposing defense. The Garotos do Ninho continued to look for openings to open the scoring. In the 35th minute, Caio sent a powerful cross from the right into the box, defender Otávio arrived as a center forward and pushed it into the empty net. Two minutes later, in the 37th minute, Otávio scored again. After a perfect corner kick, the defender rose higher than everyone else and headed the ball into the back of the net. The match was heading towards the end of the first half, when Lázaro made a good play on the left and crossed, the defense partially cleared and the ball fell to Carlos Daniel inside the area, who sent a bomb into the back of the net and made it 3-0 to Mengão!

In the 14th minute of the second half, Weverton received the ball alone in midfield, carried it to the edge of the box, and shot. The Atlético-PR goalkeeper made the save, saving the team from Paraná. In the 41st minute, Atlético-PR reduced the deficit. João Victor made a good run along the byline, dribbling past the goalkeeper, and fired a shot from a poor angle into the back of the net, making the final score 3-1.

Flamengo will face Fluminense in the first game of the Guanabara Cup final, on Saturday (22), at 10 am, at Gávea Stadium. The second leg of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship will take place on the 26th, at 15 pm, also in Gávea.
