With goals from Yuri de Oliveira and Otávio, Flamengo's U-17 team defeated Danúbio (URU) 2-0 on Friday night (18), recovered in the group stage of the Copa Santiago, reaching the qualifying zone for the quarterfinals of the competition and won the first match in the 2019 season. Lighter after winning the difficult international duel against a team that was still undefeated in the championship, the Garotos do Ninho return to the field on Sunday night (20), when they face Athlético Paranaense, at 19:30 pm, at the Alceu Carvalho Stadium, in Santiago, in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. 

The heavy rains that fell on the city of Santiago since Thursday afternoon, forcing the match to be postponed until Friday, and the poor condition of the Municipal Stadium pitch didn't hamper the Mais Querido's performance in the decisive match against Danúbio. Aware of the importance of a victory to maintain their real chances of qualifying, the Garotos do Ninho attacked their opponents from the first minute and, for the third time in three matches in the competition, opened the scoring. In the 11th minute, Lázaro passed the ball to Weverton, and the striker was brought down inside the box. Yuri de Oliveira, who had missed a free kick in the previous match, showed great personality and perfectly placed the shot into the goalkeeper's left corner, putting the Rubro-Negro in front. 

Unlike previous matches, this time Flamengo knew how to assert itself with the advantage, controlling the game, and extending the lead in the 16th minute of the second half with a "spiritual" goal from defender Otávio. His attempt at a long ball into the box saw the ball bounce and fly over the opposing goalkeeper, who retrieved the ball from the back of the net. Three points secured for the Mais Querido, who with this important victory moves into third place in Group A with four points, behind leaders Athlético PR (with seven) (their opponent in the next round) and Palmeiras (with five).
