The youth players of Flamengo's youth academy have learned from an early age what a victory with Flamengo's face looks like. On Friday morning (July 24.07), the under-17 team secured a spot in the Taça BH semifinals on penalties (5-3), after drawing 1-1 with Atlético-PR in the last minute of regulation time.
While the first half was a lukewarm and goalless, the second half was full of excitement. Atlético-PR opened the scoring with Thiago and held onto the lead until stoppage time, when Antônio Carlos found the net and forced a decision to alternate kicks. Matheus Thuller, Klebinho, Patrick, Michael, and Hugo all had 100% success rates, while Gabriel saved one of the penalties and saw one of the takers miss.
In the semifinal, Flamengo faces Figueirense, Sunday (26.07) or Monday (27.07). The dates, locations and times of the matches have not yet been announced by the Minas Gerais Football Federation (FMF).
