On Sunday afternoon (10), despite being short-handed, Mengão beat Sport 2-1 in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the U-17 Brazil Cup. The victory sealed qualification for the tournament's semifinals. The goals were scored by Victor Hugo and Diego. Now, the Garotos do Ninho, who have a 100% record in the competition (5 games and 5 wins), face the winner of the match between Atlético-MG and Fluminense.

O JOGO

With a high press, Flamengo had the first chance after just five minutes. After a good move by Victor Hugo, Pedrinho shot first time, but the goalkeeper saved. In the 28th minute, Flamengo opened the scoring. Petterson went to the byline and passed to Victor Hugo, who beat the defender and finished into the back of the net. In the final play of the first half, Sport equalized with a free kick by Daniel.

In the second half, the Red-Blacks came back with the same attitude and had a great opportunity to extend their lead with Victor Hugo, who burst into the box and shot wide. After the timeout, the team nearly scored a second with a Euder header. Needing a goal to take the game to penalties, the opposing team pressed, but the Garotos do Ninho defended well. In the end, Petterson was brought down in the box. Captain Diego converted the penalty kick, securing a spot in the semifinals of the competition: 2-1.
