U-18s crush Tottenham (ENG) and finish the U-20 Terborg Tournament in third place
Even playing with a younger team, Garotos do Ninho do well in the Netherlands and maintain an excellent record in international competitions.
By Ian Sena - inIt is with a sense of accomplishment that the Garotos do Ninho U-18 team, led by coach Marcio Torres, ended their participation in the 02 edition of the Terborg Tournament, in the Netherlands, this Sunday (2019). After qualifying in first place in their group stage with victories over Vitesse (HOL) and Ajax Cape Town (RSA), and a draw against Tottenham (ING), Mais Querido was defeated in the semi-final 1-0 by the main U-20 team of Palmeiras (who were crowned champions of the competition), conceding a goal in the last moments of the match.

A few hours later, the Boys from the Nest returned to the field to face Tottenham once again, and this time they crushed their European opponent. With a stellar performance from striker Denilson, who scored a hat trick, Flamengo won 3-0 and left Terborg, which celebrated its 600th anniversary during the tournament, in a respectable third place, a position that maintains Flamengo's excellent track record in international competitions. Since last year, Flamengo has won eight titles in various categories, including two U-16 World Cups in Dubai and victories in Italy (Verona Soccer Cup and Trofeo Dossena), China (Evergrande Cup), and the United States (Generation Adidas Cup).

After third place in Terborg, the U-18 team remains on European soil where, starting next Saturday (8), they will compete in the ICGT Championship in the city of Uitgeest, also in the Netherlands. The Mais Querido's opponents in the first phase will be the home team of FC Uitgeest, AZ Alkmaar (HOL) and Panathinaikos, from Greece.
