Mathematically qualified for the quarterfinals of the U-20 Carioca Championship, Flamengo is seeking important points in the penultimate round of the Guanabara Cup. Flamengo will face Madureira this Saturday at 10 a.m. at Aniceto Moscoso Stadium, the club's home field. The competition is considered strategic for the club, as it qualifies the champion and runner-up for the 2026 edition of the Copa do Brasil in that category.
Coach Bruno Pivetti led the final training session before the match against Tricolor Suburbano. The session took place this Friday at CT George Helal. In the previous round, Flamengo defeated Sampaio Corrêa 4-0, with goals from Douglas Telles, who scored twice, Germano, and Guilherme. After the match against Madureira, the Garotos do Ninho will conclude their participation in the Taça Guanabara against Volta Redonda on the 11th in Gávea.
Flamengo is third in the Guanabara Cup with 19 points, the same number as Botafogo, who is second with a one-goal advantage. The red-and-black team has scored 17 goals and conceded nine. Vasco da Gama is the leader with 24 points.
The top eight teams in the Guanabara Cup advance to the quarterfinals, which will be played in two-legged matches. The top-ranked teams will decide their semifinal berths at home, with the advantage of two equal results. The same criteria applies to the matches that will determine the finalists. In the title match, the top-ranked team will have home advantage in the second leg, but there is no advantage. In the event of a draw, the winner will be decided by penalty kicks.
