Flamengo suffered a 1-0 defeat to Botafogo in the first leg of the third phase of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament, this Sunday (5), in a match played at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium, in Gávea. Now, to reach the semifinals of the competition, Rubro-Negro will have to win by two goals in the return match, scheduled for next Saturday, at 10 am, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in the North Zone of Rio. A victory by one goal takes the dispute for the spot to penalties.

The first opportunity came for Flamengo in the 4th minute, when Josmar picked up a loose ball after a scramble in the box and shot. The ball went past the goalkeeper, and the defender cleared it off the line. Flamengo attacked again in the 7th minute: Gusttavo passed to Josmar, who exchanged passes with Jhefinho and shot powerfully to the left of the goalkeeper. Botafogo responded with a series of crosses into the box, intercepted by the defense. In the 26th minute, after the water break, the opponent went forward and had a shot blocked.

After receiving a long pass, Josmar was in a good position, shot, and the Botafogo goalkeeper made the save. In the next play, the last of the first half, Botafogo attacked down the right and Italo, well positioned, cleared the ball.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Kaio Nogrega passed to Douglas Telles who rolled the ball to Gusttavo for a shot. The ball went over the opponent's goal. Botafogo opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a shot from outside the area by Cauã. In the next play, Josmar shot towards the left corner and the goalkeeper made the save.

Flamengo had more possession, while their opponent tried to extend their lead on counter-attacks. That's how Flamengo came close twice. The first time was with Gabriel Amancio, who took a shot from outside the box, and the goalkeeper made the save in two stages. Then, Reyes crossed into the box from the right, and the ball went past everyone, dangerously close, in the 33rd minute.

Towards the end of the match, Flamengo intensified their offensive actions and played extensively in the opponent's defensive half. They almost equalized with Reyes in the 46th minute, but the Botafogo defense cleared the ball. Before the final whistle, Enzo Pinheiro tried a header, but the opposing goalkeeper made the save.
