After defeating Figueirense and Internacional with great authority in the final two rounds of the First Phase of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship and, thus, securing the leadership of Group D with nine points gained in four games, the Garotos do Ninho learned in a draw held at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro, their opponents and the schedule of games for the rest of the competition. 

The debut in the second phase, also played in a group format, but in a home and away system, will be next Wednesday (08) against Fluminense, with the tricolor team in charge and the location still to be defined. The Rio derby will be broadcast live on SporTV, at 17 pm. Coritiba and Vasco complete Group F. Group E is composed of Palmeiras, Corinthians, Internacional and Vitória. The top two teams in each group qualify for the semifinal, played in home and away matches.

"The Brazilian Championship is a very important competition, and one the club has yet to win in the U-20 category. We've had a very good year so far, with victories in the São Paulo Cup, the State Championship, and the Dossena International Tournament in Italy. But thanks to individualized work with the athletes, involving the entire coaching staff and board, there hasn't been a drop in performance, which would be somewhat natural in a season with many victories. We've maintained our humility and hard work, and we've also qualified for the second phase of the Brazilian Championship, a feat we hadn't achieved in three years. But it was just one step toward the ultimate goal: the title. We'll prepare even more now for the next phase, which will be very tough, with four state derbies in addition to Coritiba, the current runner-up. I have great confidence in our athletes and our team," said coach Marcio Torres.
