Guanabara Cup, Carioca Championship twice, OPG Tournament twice, Brazilian Championship. Think that's a lot? For the Flamengo youth team in the Under-20 category, led by coach Maurício Souza, it wasn't enough. Thirsty for titles, they finished the year on a high note. On a rainy Sunday afternoon (22) at the Fonte Luminosa Stadium, in Araraquara, Flamengo lost to Palmeiras 1-0. As they had won the first leg 3-0, they won the Brazilian Super Cup with an aggregate score of 3-1 and, as a bonus, secured a place in the Copa Libertadores de América for the category. Flamengo's youth football closes the 2019 season with 27 titles, in its most victorious year in history. 

Knowing they needed goals, Palmeiras had their first shot on goal in the sixth minute, with Gabriel Menino. Alert and well-positioned as always, Hugo Souza made a fine save and maintained Flamengo's comfortable aggregate lead. The Flamengo youth team responded in the 13th minute, and almost opened the scoring with a spectacular goal. Luiz Henrique launched a pass behind the defense to Rodrigo Muniz. The team's top scorer this season, with 28 goals, attempted a lob, but the ball went just wide of the left post.

At 16 minutes, Gabriel Silva anticipated the Flamengo defense and shot against Hugo Souza's post. Following that, Marcelinho shot from outside the area, and this time the ball hit the crossbar of the "Mais Querido" (Flamengo's nickname) and went out for a goal kick. Again, Flamengo didn't take long to respond. At 20 minutes, Wendel crossed and Yuri Cesar shot first-time, into the side netting. Palmeiras opened the scoring at 30 minutes with Gabriel Silva.

The Flamengo youth team returned for the second half determined to settle things and secure their fifth title in the category this season. In the 13th minute, Yuri Cesar received the ball in the middle of the Palmeiras defense and shot towards the corner. Magrão made a great save, deflecting it for a corner. From the corner, Hiago almost scored an own goal. The pressure was intense. In the 14th minute, Richard Rios cut past the defender and had his shot blocked. On the rebound, Wendel unleashed a powerful shot, and Magrão made another save. 

Palmeiras came close to scoring in the 35th minute, forcing a great save from Flamengo's goalkeeper Hugo Souza. After that, Flamengo simply had to manage their comfortable lead from the first leg, securing another title this season and guaranteeing their place in the 2020 Copa Libertadores for the category.
