Without facing any major difficulties and with ample dominance in the 180 minutes of the match against Fluminense, valid for the quarterfinal stage of the Brazilian U-20 Championship, Flamengo, who had already won the first leg last week, in Saquarema, by 3-0, defeated their rival again on Wednesday afternoon (30) by 2-1 (Wendel and Rodrigo Muniz) in a classic played in Gávea and, with ease, secured a place in the semifinal of the national competition. The Garotos do Ninho now await São Paulo or Corinthians, who will still play the second leg. In the first leg, a 1-1 draw. Because they have the better campaign overall, the Mais Querido will have the right to play the second leg at home.

In the 13th minute of the first half, Yuri broke free from the defense and struck a powerful shot, which goalkeeper Gustavo made a good save. In the 20th minute, Flamengo pressed the Tricolor's ball out and stole the ball. Rodrigo Muniz shot, but Gustavo made another save.

In the first minute of the second half, Fluminense opened the scoring with Evanilson. The next minute, Rodrigo Muniz hit a cross-shot that exploded off Gustavo's right post. The game was evenly matched, and in the fifth minute, Pedro Caracoci made an excellent save from Evanilson's point-blank shot inside the six-yard box.

The Ninho Boys pressed forward and earned a deserved equalizer in the 25th minute, thanks to a perfectly converted penalty by Wendel. The next play saw the game turnaround. Rodrigo Muniz, the division's top scorer this season, received the ball inside the box and fired a cross that Gustavo couldn't save. It was the center forward's 26th goal of 2019 and his eighth in the Brasileirão, securing the club's place in the Brasileirão semifinals.
