Flamengo's U-20 team went to the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro on Saturday afternoon (23) to face Madureira, in a match valid for the second round of the Guanabara Cup, the first round of the State Championship. In a very difficult match, as is traditional at the Rua Conselheiro Galvão stadium, which has a very uneven grass and small field, the Garotos do Ninho opened the scoring, were better on the field and fought until the final minute for victory, but saw the home team defend hard and ended up drawing 1-1 (Wendel), reaching four points won in the competition.

In the next round, Mais Querido hosts Cabofriense, in Gávea. Before, on Thursday (28), Rubro-Negro will go to Volta Redonda to face Real Desportivo Ariquemes (RO), in the round of XNUMX of the Copa do Brasil. 

The two teams were still warming up on the field when, in the fifth minute, Luiz Henrique delivered a superb pass from the defensive half to Wendel. Inside the box, the striker caught it first time and beat goalkeeper Daniel, opening the scoring for the Garotos do Ninho. The match was very even and tightly contested, with tough plays and numerous yellow cards. But Flamengo remained superior on the field. In the 15th minute, Luiz Henrique took a free kick from the edge of the box, and the ball went over the home team's goal.

The match had few clear-cut scoring chances, and the red-and-blacks were very solid defensively. In the 33rd minute, Lucas Freitas tapped in a cross from Luiz Henrique, but the assistant referee flagged for offside and disallowed the goal. Madureira only created any real danger with the final play of the first half. After a cross into the box, the ball was heading towards goal, but Pablo, alert, made the save and maintained the Mais Querido's lead until halftime.

Madureira equalized four minutes into the second half with a low shot from Ian Oliveira. From then until the technical timeout in the 20th minute, the match became even more evenly matched. There were no clear-cut scoring chances, but there was plenty of fighting and competition for possession. After the introductions of Yuri and Sidney, the Mais Querido regained greater control of the game and began to attack Madureira more, who were playing cornered and trying to counterattack. 

In the 21st minute, Pablo crossed and Yuri hit it first time, but the ball went wide without much danger for Daniel. In the 43rd minute, Luiz Henrique took a free kick to the left of the suburban team's goal, which threatened in the 39th minute. Ítalo was alert and saved the red-and-black goal, warding off the danger at just the right moment. The Boys from the Nest pressed hard in search of the winning goal, while the home team kept scoring and putting intense pressure on the referee, calling for the end of the game. But there was still time for two final chances. In the 48th minute, Sidney took a shot from outside the box, and the goalkeeper saved in two attempts. In the 50th minute, after a cross into the box, Rodrigo Muniz beat the defender, turned, and shot hard. But the defense deflected the ball, preventing another three points for the Mais Querido.
