Flamengo's U-20 team fought until the end and created numerous chances to win the game against Madureira, played on Wednesday afternoon (07) at the Rua Conselheiro Galvão Stadium, valid for the fifth round of the second phase of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG). The final 0x0 draw makes things difficult, but does not take away the red-black team's chances of qualifying, which in the last round will need to beat América at Gávea and hope for Olaria's defeat to Madureira to be in the final of the competition.

The game started slowly, and the first chance fell to the red-and-blacks only in the 15th minute. After a free kick by Klebinho, the Madureira defender brushed the near post, and the ball fell to a well-positioned Patrick. But his header went over the goal. In the 20th minute, Klebinho had a good opportunity with a free kick from the edge of the box. The ball hit the wall, and the right-back fired a powerful first-time shot from the rebound. But the ball went too high.

Madureira had a good chance with Pedrão in the 28th minute. The center forward slotted the ball home, threatening Hugo Souza. The suburban team did manage to scare – and then there was – a powerful shot from Ian Oliveira. Brazilian national team goalkeeper Hugo Souza was alert and made the save without rebounding. In the final play of the first half, Patrick tapped a free kick into the net. Inexplicably, the referee signaled "goal danger" and disallowed the red-and-black goal.

The second half was tense. The game was tight and competitive, with numerous fouls and few dangerous attacks. The first came only in the 19th minute, with a shot by Luan Gomes from the edge of the box. Hugo Souza was on the ball, but it went over the bar. Even before the technical timeout, coach Marcio Torres made the team even more attacking and went in search of victory, bringing on Vitor Gabriel and Yuri for Bill and Luiz Henrique, respectively. 

In the 34th minute, Klebinho unleashed a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Paulo jumped on it and made a great save, preventing Flamengo from scoring. A minute later, from a corner kick, Nathan headed the ball against the crossbar. Flamengo continued to press, looking for the winning goal. In the 39th minute, Patrick hit a cross, and Paulo made a confident save. The last chance came in stoppage time. Yuri was brought down inches from the penalty area. Marx Lenin took the shot, and Paulo made a great save, preventing another goal for Flamengo and leaving the field as Madureira's star player.
