In the tenth round of the Guanabara Under-20 Cup, Flamengo drew 0-0 with Volta Redonda on Wednesday afternoon (4), in Gávea. With the result, Rubro-Negro remains in the lead of the competition, and in the last round, will face Madureira with great chances of winning the first round of the State Championship.

The game
The match began with Flamengo struggling to get the ball out of the box due to Volta Redonda's pressing defense. In the 12th minute, Pedrinho received the ball in midfield and took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. Shortly after, Gabriel Barros burst into the box and fired a cross-shot. The ball went just wide of the post.

The Ninho Boys continued to press in search of their first goal. In the 18th minute, Igor Jesus unleashed a powerful shot from the middle of the field. The ball swerved and nearly fooled the goalkeeper, who rebounded it to Kayque Soares, but the defender was in an offside position. The first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Flamengo continued to attack, exchanging passes to create space in Volta Redonda's defense. In the fifth minute, Breno lifted the ball into the box, and Peralta headed it wide. In the 22nd minute, Flamengo created the best opportunity of the match. After a pass from the right, João Pedro found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, who managed to intercept the play at the feet of the Flamengo striker.

In the final stretch of the game, Fla tried to apply that last pressure, but was unable to break through Volta Redonda's defense and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

Next appointment
Mengão's U-20 team returns to the field next Sunday (8) to face Internacional, at 15 pm, in Porto Alegre. The game is valid for the tenth round of the Brasileirão in the category.
