On the afternoon of last Saturday (29.03), Flamengo's under-20 soccer team played the second leg of the semifinals of the Campeonato Carioca in the category against Nova Iguaçu. Rubro-Negro took the lead on the scoreboard, but could not contain the impetus of the opponent, who turned the score around and secured qualification for the finals of the Taça Guanabara.

Needing a result, as Flamengo had the advantage of two draws due to its better campaign in the first phase, Nova Iguaçu launched an attack, opening up space in the defense for Flamengo. On a counterattack in the 22nd minute of the first half, the ball reached Jajá, making it 1-0 for Flamengo. In the 40th minute, Cristian scored the equalizer for Nova Iguaçu, who eventually turned the game around in the sixth minute of the second half, this time through Wellington. The youngsters, led by coach Marcelo Buarque, didn't give up, but the victory went to the Baixada team.

Now, Flamengo awaits the start of the Taça Rio, the second round of the competition, to fight for a place in the final of the Campeonato Carioca.
